The role of the professional is to inform the intended parents or the surrogate about the psychosocial and ethical implications of a surrogacy project. Certain prerequisites have been defined by law for a surrogacy project outside of Quebec to be authorized or to allow the legal establishment of parentage when all parties in the project are domiciled in Quebec, namely: that the intended parents and the surrogate mother, if she is domiciled in Quebec, have attended a meeting on the psychosocial implications and ethical issues of such a project before the start of any procreation process.
